Travel to St. Tropez? Party in France, my insights !

Hey guys,

my last posting was all about where to stay when traveling to Saint Tropez, France. If you miss it make sure you check it out if your are planning on a trip to the the french rivera.

Just click on Saint Tropez, where to stay? and you will be forwarded to my last posting.

So you know now about my recommendations to stay! But now I have some recommendations where to enjoy the nightlife from St. Tropez at its best - so if you wanna do party in Saint Tropez, France, you just right to reserve a table at the famous L'Opéra Saint Tropez.

We just came right, when the L'Opéra had the season opening party.

View of the open air terrace of the L'Opéra in Saint Tropez, France

The L'Opéra is located in the central village of Saint Tropez, it offers a wonderful view facing the harbor. Built up as an arena with an outdoor and indoor location. We loved to hang out on the outdoor terrace and enjoy the view towards the old city of St. Tropez.

When you entering the restaurant you need to go over a really nice decorated red carpet, which makes the entrance to an unique experience.

They have a fantastic art exhibition all over the location. The Tropezian artist is called Philippe Shangti and one of my personal favorite artists. He is a contemporary photographer and adds thoughtful character to the restaurant colored with humor and provocation.

He created all the artistic elements from this restaurant. It is its own concept of an "art-gallery-restaurant" and he has created tables, chosen the colours, set all the shows and chose the performers. All of the shows are in total adequacy with the works of the artist and changes each year following to the evolution of this own series of artwork.

I personally loved the dining plates, see underneath.

The range of the dinner options varies from France local cuisine, as well to international selections. I had a wonderful truffle pizza, which I can only recommend to you and the quality was outstanding.

The service we enjoyed this night was amazing, a special thanks again to Dimi for the great management !

When the dinner is over, the restaurant turns into a great night club with great music and people. The DJ is also amazing.

So if you travel to Saint Tropez, don't miss out partying here! And make sure you place a reservation for dinner!

Barcelona, my foodie insights for you!

PART 4 I La Boqueria Market

View from the entrance of the La Boqueria Market Barcelona to the crowded market and market stalls

Hey guys,

my posting series about where to go in Barcelona for foodies and restaurant lovers is continuing. Make sure you did not miss part 1, 2 and 3 by clicking on the numbers you will be forwarded to my other food and restaurant recommendations from my blog.

If you travel to Barcelona you normally heard from this location when searching for places to go.

I dedicate my part 4 of my food series the unique and great "La Boqueria Market".

The La Boqueria Market is located central, only a side step away from the well known street "la rambla".

The origins from the history of the market go back to the 1200s, it was born as a traveller market - which was at the beginning an open-air market. Developing over the years the market has become one of the must-sees when visiting Barcelona, one of the best markets world wide.

When you entering the market stalls from the street of "la rambla" you enter a a market for your senses.

The market stalls itself are close one to another, also enclosed in the market stalls many bars and restaurants where you can directly order your food or a  drink an watch the scene.

I personally loved the fruit market stalls. A smoothie costs around 1,50 euro. We went there for dinner and tried many things as slices of Empanadas and cheese / ham. We also had a glass of cava at the market. Round about we came to 20 euros all together for two persons, which is really cheap for an European city attraction.

Make sure you never leave your handbag unattended, but this doesn't stop the fun.

The market is also offering a food school, where you can book courses for cooking and learning from local chefs and artists. Check the homepage for more information.

I decided to do a series of the top foodie places when traveling to wonderful Barcelona.

My insights about foodie places you should go to started two weeks ago, so make sure you don't miss something out by clicking on Part1 and Part 2

The restaurant I choose to write about today is the "SURF HOUSE" in Barcelona.

Surf House Barcelona, Spain - photo of the entrance of the restaurant with surf boards decorated

This location is directly located at the beach. And as the name is already giving you some idea, it is a surf spot and a restaurant decorated with all things relating to surfing.

You have a beautiful view from the restaurant facing the beach life of Barcelona.

The restaurant itself is offering a big menu  where you can choose from breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner.

We choosed an Avocado Toast with smashed avocado, feta cheese, basil and cherry tomatoes. Beside this great high quality fresh dish I choosed a drink called Lime Juice, with mint and a bit of sugar. I can really recommend it, also they offer a smoothie of the month, just ask for the fruits at the moment. Also you can do your own healthy creation of course.

As it is a surfer spot, they also offer activities - which you can book. For example SHB SUP Yoga & Pilates and afterwards you can get your well deserved smoothie or Mojito. On some days they also have live music with special cocktail prices.

And don't miss the free paddle surf, when hitting the 15 Euro bill you can borrow paddle board for 45 minutes free. Check the website for actual activities.

Part 2 I ARROS I PEIX, Barcelona - Spain

In-House fish market of Arrosipeix restaurant in Barcelona

Hey guys,

I decided to do a series of places to go for foodies in my blog, when coming to Barcelona. Part 1 was uploaded last week, if you haven't read it yet make sure you don't miss it by clicking on: Part 1 Barcelona, my insights for you.

When traveling to Barcelona, one thing you should not miss is to visit a fish restaurant.

The best experience I made when it comes to eating fish in Barcelona was at the amazing ARROS I PEIX.

The restaurant caught my attention, when we were walking down via Laietana. The restaurant has a big wide glass front, where you can directly take a look at their fresh In-House fish market.

The friendly service team saw that I wanted to make a picture of the fish market from the street and welcomed me to have a look in the restaurant to make a better picture. It has just been opened up, so we decided to make a reservation for the evening.

Bar and In-House Fish Market of Arrosipeix restaurant Barcelona

As we arrived on the evening we were greeted by the friendly service personal with a glass of bubbly Cava. Then the service member explained to use the In-House fish market. You can choose from the fresh fish presented what you like, which I really loved because you can taste from every fish a bit. You pay by the weight, the fish portion you choose will be weighted in front of you so you can also add some more or even less which is a great unique service.

This is exactly what makes the concept so great, you have this impressive fresh fish market, while having your glass of Cava you get everything explained and then you can decide what you would like to have and how you would like to have it cooked.

Also they offer a menue where you can order fantastic side dishes and of course they have a wine list where a service member will help you out with the decision which wine to pick for your dish.

The restaurant itself is really modern and threw the glass front you can directly see the street, which makes a really nice atmosphere.

We had a great time there and the best fish I eaten so far in Barcelona, I can only recommend this place for a dinner or lunch. Check the opening hours for more information on the homepage of the restaurant.

I talked to the director and he was mentioning that they have some more restaurants in Spain. You can also find out on their homepage

Bavaria - Ammersee, my insights for you!

View, Ammersee, Strandbar, Biergarten, Fischer, Restaurant

Hey guys,

today I have a insight from beautiful Bavaria. When you think about Bavaria most people are thinking of traveling to Munich. But Bavaria has much more to offer then only one city.

"Fischer am Ammersee" is one of my favorite spots to spend some relaxing time, it is directly located at the amazing lake of Ammersee. Driving from Munich city centre you should calculate about 40 minutes. The style of the location is really modern and fresh.

I can recommend anytime to come, but I just LOVE the breakfast at this place. They offer high quality breakfast with an amazing view to the lake of Ammersee. After breakfast you can also do some hiking or sports around the lake.

Breakfast, Fischer, Ammersee, Restaurant, Winterlounge

During winter time they have a really romantic and cozy winter lounge with an own fire place, it is build up on wood each year new from October - April.

View inside Fischer Ammersee, Restaurant, interior

They offer a nice "Biergarten" called "Strandbar" where you can sit outside on the lake and relax while having some traditional Bavarian snacks or international snacks. Normally it is opened up when the first ray of lights hit the Ammersee. They also offer blankets for you, if the temperature is not that high and you still want to enjoy your glass of bubbly outside.

Augsburg, christmas time, where to stay and where to go? My insights for you!

Augsburg - a MUST SEE in Bavaria !

Augsburg, christmas time, where to stay and where to go - my insights for you!

www.melaines-insights.com,

Hey guys,

A town which I would really recommend people coming to Bavaria is Augsburg.
Augsburg is around 80 km distance from Munich, about 1 hour you should calculate for driving.

I come there many times a year, the photos were taken around Christmas time, you might notice on the decoration. Augsburg is also beautiful in the summer, but for the christmas market in the winter they are really well known all over Germany.

What I love about Augsburg it has a wonderful historic old town, you can explore everything by feet. They offer many different shops and many nice restaurants within the city center.

Where to stay?

Augsburg, Steigenberger Hotel Drei Mohren.

www.melaines-insights.com

Casanova, Mozart, Napoleon, King Ludwig (many more names I could drop in... just mentioned a few) and me prefer staying at the wonderful Steigenberger Hotel Drei Mohren.
Yes you heard right, they were all guests as the stunning history from this hotel is going back over 500 years, it is one of the most traditional hotels in Germany.
The hotel is central located at the Maximilianstreet, that means its so central you can explore Augsburg just by feet.

How is the style of the hotel?

I like modern, stylish Hotels. I think this hotel melts the huge history of it and the modern design perfectly from the rooms to the restaurants everything is really cosmopolitan the bar 3M made me feel being back in big apple (but being in a smaller apple called "Augsburg").

If your into art you will love this hotel, speaking about historical art they offer a huge art collection well integrated in the hotel and rooms - one exhibit in our suite was dating an artist from 1640-1719. Normally you would find something like this only with "don't touch" in a museum.

What about the rooms?

They offer 131 air-conditioned rooms. All in modern elegant style. We stayed (as we had something to celebrate) at the Paganini suite (pure luxury, two bath rooms, 83qm!!). I loved the space and the modern interior. From every window in this suite you can have a look at Augsburg, which is great. Your literally in the city, while being in your room.

Speaking about modern, what I really loved that they offer you an iPad which you can use for information or even making reservations at the restaurants in the hotel.

Again I totally fall in love with the interior:

Restaurants and Bars?

If your tired from all the walking and sight seeing you can have a cocktail (or two) at the bar 3M, where you can rest your feet while spotting throwout the big glass windows the business of the street of Augsburg. Last time I spotted the Eintracht Frankfurt football team checking in the hotel by the way.

They offer also two different restaurants, last time I tried the "Maximilians" and it was just delicious, they have a huge range of wines which you should check out while being there. The service is really friendly and they also put some recommendations on you, if you like to have some assistance. What I really liked about Maximilians is that they are having front cooking, that means you see how they prepare your meal.

The other restaurant is called "Sartory" based on french cuisine, its a own gourmet restaurant with exclusive 24 seats, for all the love birds around they offer there a menue and candle light dinner.

What to see and what to do in Augsburg?

If you are coming around Christmas time, make sure you go for a long walk threw the famous Christmas market. It is just amazing. I would recommend you to come underneath the week as the weekend is always busy. Or come right in the morning when the market is just starting.

You can also go shopping, Augsburg has a lot of great unique shops waiting for you to explore.

A thing you really shouldn't miss is the food market in Augsburg, you can go there for people watching, buying fresh food or go for lunch or a glass of bubbly or something to eat. They offer also some really nice small restaurants there. I think this is my absolute favorite spot in Augsburg, I could spend ages there!!!!
