Pure Lifestyle on top of the mountains - Austria / Kristallhütte

Skiing and Lifestyle traveling on top of the mountains - my insights for you:

Hey guys,

today I want to introduce to you the magnificent beautiful located "Kristallhütte" in Austria / Zillertal.

www.melaines-insights.com

For getting even a better impression I will provide you now with the link, as a video can say more then thousands pictures: https://vimeo.com/125841117

So YES, I love snow and being in the mountains. But unfortunately I missed learning how to ski or snowboard.

So how can you manage to get someone like this up to a skiing paradise and hideaway on top of the mountains in Austria (literally ON TOP)? Underneath you see the morning view from our suite.

www.melaines-insights.com

For myself (thanks to the lovely host) they picked me up at the mid station and transferred me with a jet ski to the Kristallhütte.

For all the ski lovers out there - the normal way would be to get rid of your package in the middle station (they transfer it for you and take care) and then ski all day and come with the last lift to the Kristallhütte back.

Around 4.00 the daily skiing visitors are leaving to get the last ride down. This is when your private Kristallhütte experience is about to start.

The service is unbelievable, when your back from skiing or wellnessing (they offer a great Spa with one of a kind view towards facing the mountains - NOTHING ELSE!) you can go for an aperitivo in the freshly cleaned out Kristallhütte. While taking a sip of your aperitif, they offer you some snacks which you can enjoy while warming yourself up on a huge fire place.

www.melaines-insights.com

As the Kristallhütte is only offering 4 alpine lodge suites and 8 superior rooms, you can imagine how private you feel when no one else is there only the crew members, you and the mountain spirit.

We stayed in an alpine lodge suite, which is only with one word writable : pure lifestyle luxury.

When staying at the suite you can leave your skiing equipment in your own glass locker (outside the suite) and for your shoes, they have a own room for it - to make sure it gets warm again.

The suite itself is facing the pure mountains, 2-level suite, 55 qm. All is in wood and a really clean minimalistic design with huge glass fronts. I guess they wanted to make sure that when you entered the bath tube (of course in front of the glass and facing the mountains) that you really feel your the only one person on top of everything. As a welcome they also offer you a bottle of bubbly, which you can sip with your own (how much luxury you can get!) little private fire - of course close to the bath tube so the romantic is own.

www.melaines-insights.com

Speaking about romantic the 2-level has also a balcony (as the first level has) which is again facing the great view of the snowy mountains. On the 2-level you have a wonderful big bed where you can take a rest.

www.melaines-insights.com
www.melaines-insights.com

Of course you also have your own infrarot cabine in your suite, so you can relax from all the sport really privately.  The Nespresso machine is not missing and you have of course free w-lan. Not to forget to mention they have an integrated music system which serves the music threw all the levels of your suite and also an music alarm system to wake you nicely up - to make sure you don't miss to be the first skiing person that goes down the mountain - while the others still have to wait and stand in line for going up :-)

www.melaines-insights.com

At night the Kristallhütte is offering (included in the over night price) a wonderful 5-course-Gourmet dinner experience, they have also a great wine card which just don't leave any wishes open.

The breakfast on the next day, sets the same luxury standards as the dinner. Just everything you need (or you don't need) is there.

The guest can also reserve outside some tables or what I would recommend to you: warm water beds, where you can hang out after skiing for lunch or just like me for sun bathing and people watching. Around lunch time many visitors are coming and it gets crowded, which doesn't stop the fun - a DJ act is always there - so you have a huge entertainment while being on top of the mountains.

www.melaines-insights.com

The only sad thing about it, it is so nice that many people want to book this experience. So make sure you hurry up and book the trip to your winter hideaway !

Cheers,

Melaine

Augsburg, christmas time, where to stay and where to go? My insights for you!

Augsburg - a MUST SEE in Bavaria !

Augsburg, christmas time, where to stay and where to go - my insights for you!

www.melaines-insights.com,

Hey guys,

A town which I would really recommend people coming to Bavaria is Augsburg.
Augsburg is around 80 km distance from Munich, about 1 hour you should calculate for driving.

I come there many times a year, the photos were taken around Christmas time, you might notice on the decoration. Augsburg is also beautiful in the summer, but for the christmas market in the winter they are really well known all over Germany.

What I love about Augsburg it has a wonderful historic old town, you can explore everything by feet. They offer many different shops and many nice restaurants within the city center.

Where to stay?

Augsburg, Steigenberger Hotel Drei Mohren.

Casanova, Mozart, Napoleon, King Ludwig (many more names I could drop in... just mentioned a few) and me prefer staying at the wonderful Steigenberger Hotel Drei Mohren.
Yes you heard right, they were all guests as the stunning history from this hotel is going back over 500 years, it is one of the most traditional hotels in Germany.
The hotel is central located at the Maximilianstreet, that means its so central you can explore Augsburg just by feet.

How is the style of the hotel?

I like modern, stylish Hotels. I think this hotel melts the huge history of it and the modern design perfectly from the rooms to the restaurants everything is really cosmopolitan the bar 3M made me feel being back in big apple (but being in a smaller apple called "Augsburg").

If your into art you will love this hotel, speaking about historical art they offer a huge art collection well integrated in the hotel and rooms - one exhibit in our suite was dating an artist from 1640-1719. Normally you would find something like this only with "don't touch" in a museum.

What about the rooms?

They offer 131 air-conditioned rooms. All in modern elegant style. We stayed (as we had something to celebrate) at the Paganini suite (pure luxury, two bath rooms, 83qm!!). I loved the space and the modern interior. From every window in this suite you can have a look at Augsburg, which is great. Your literally in the city, while being in your room.

Speaking about modern, what I really loved that they offer you an iPad which you can use for information or even making reservations at the restaurants in the hotel.

Again I totally fall in love with the interior:

Restaurants and Bars?

If your tired from all the walking and sight seeing you can have a cocktail (or two) at the bar 3M, where you can rest your feet while spotting throwout the big glass windows the business of the street of Augsburg. Last time I spotted the Eintracht Frankfurt football team checking in the hotel by the way.

They offer also two different restaurants, last time I tried the "Maximilians" and it was just delicious, they have a huge range of wines which you should check out while being there. The service is really friendly and they also put some recommendations on you, if you like to have some assistance. What I really liked about Maximilians is that they are having front cooking, that means you see how they prepare your meal.

The other restaurant is called "Sartory" based on french cuisine, its a own gourmet restaurant with exclusive 24 seats, for all the love birds around they offer there a menue and candle light dinner.

What to see and what to do in Augsburg?

If you are coming around Christmas time, make sure you go for a long walk threw the famous Christmas market. It is just amazing. I would recommend you to come underneath the week as the weekend is always busy. Or come right in the morning when the market is just starting.

You can also go shopping, Augsburg has a lot of great unique shops waiting for you to explore.

A thing you really shouldn't miss is the food market in Augsburg, you can go there for people watching, buying fresh food or go for lunch or a glass of bubbly or something to eat. They offer also some really nice small restaurants there. I think this is my absolute favorite spot in Augsburg, I could spend ages there!!!!

#The German Hamptons - Sylt the best kept secret from Germany!

# German Hamptons / Sylt

Sylt - the best kept vacation secret from Germany

"Kampen makes me feel like a monkey in the zoo, but only with nice company".
                  Gunter Sachs

You may wonder who Gunter Sachs is (if you are not German), he was (unfortunately left us some time ago!) the German Playboy who was famous for partying in Sylt (a small Island in the Northern Part of Germany).

Guys, I can tell you - Sylt is the most best kept secret from Germany. I don't know why, but I never met there any tourists from overseas. Maybe the Germans want to keep it for themselves, I don't know! Its also hard to find English web sides from the hot spots of the island, but thank god we have google translator in 2016. I know the island is small and expensive, but still I think the international clients are not well informed about this paradise in Germany! Thats why I decided to share this content with you today.

It is the German Hamptons!!! (the most expensivest house prices in Germany!)!!

www.melaines-insights.com

After 32 years I made it the first time to Sylt, its funny because when you think you saw Tokyo (many times) but don't know your home country - but whatever, it is never to late!

A good advise for all the international guys out there, as I know German is a difficult language - you can use in this region from Germany always "Moin, Moin" to say hello - good evening - good  morning :-)

If your coming from outside Germany I would suggest you to come in summer time, or late summer time -  take a look at the German "Sommerferien" to make sure, the island is not too crowded. Maybe you book two nights in Hamburg before, which is a beautiful city from there you can rent a car and drive around 2 hours to "Niebüll", where the car train (an adventure, I can tell you) will bring you directly in 30 minutes to Sylt. You get transported on a train over the sea - funny!

www.melaines-insights.com

www.melaines-insights.com

The best place to explore and stay in Sylt is from my opinion a rental flat in my favorite spot Wenningstedt. You can rent a bike there and as the island is so flat you don't have to be a sports fanatic to bike wherever you want.

www.melaines-insights.com

As it is a German island it is not the Caribian, that means  the weather conditions can change quickly, which doesn't rune your vacation, but make sure you also pack warm clothing in your suite case (it can be windy!!) - Sylt is even beautiful without sunshine, but you have to be prepared for it!

What I don't like about Sylt?
Theres not much to mention.
Westerland is not my favorite spot, I think it is just too crowded and the typical small houses / buildings which makes the island so special are not there. If you like to go shopping, they have a big shopping street.

What I like about Sylt?
Wenningstedt - Gosch (its a big chain all over the island with fresh sea food and a good glass of wine) with direct access on the beach. I prefer staying in an apartment in Wenningstedt close to the beach. See underneath the link to my favorite apartment agency.

www.melaines-insights.com

www.melaines-insights.com

Kampen - to see and to be seen of course. Gunter Sachs partied hard over there!
From Wenningsted you can go by bicycle about 10 minutes and then your in Kampen.
You can go for a real good breakfast (you can share one, its big enough!) there and cakes on the afternoon - best home made cakes I ever ate = at Kupferkanne. Make sure you make a reservation!

www.melaines-insights.com

If you want to shop exclusive brands in traditional Sylt houses, this is the place you should go.
For an evening restaurant I can recommend you the Gogärtchen, you can have a real good "Currywurst" with truffle cream and fries over there ;-) You only life once, right?!

Buhne 16 is also at the end (on the never-ending beach!) of Kampen, right on the beach side.
There you can go for a drink or a snack around afternoon. They also have cool DJ vibes and in summer they are hosting surf festivals.

If you want to party hard this is the place to be, check out "PONY Club or Club Rotes Cliff".

Keitum - just a nice small city where you can spend an afternoon in shopping and watching people.

What you shouldn't miss in Sylt?

Make sure you book a Watt tour. The "Watt" tour is a tour when the water goes away and you can walk threw the so called "Watt" and you get to explore the micro livings of the sea. Most of the tours are made by native Sylt people, so they always tell you great realistic stories they experienced while living in Sylt.

www.melaines-insights.com

Also make sure you enjoy the beach (everywhere!!!). It is just a never-ending clear beach where you can take walks for hours. One of my favorite spots (of course close to Wenningstedt) is Wonnemeyer. I ate there the best Avocado Salad in my life.
There is also a DJ around, so you get a cool vibe on the beach. You can only come there by feet.

www.melaines-insights.com

The best place to watch the sunset in Sylt?

Sansibar !! The one and only, well-known in Germany. Come there late afternoon and make sure you grab your glass of wine and go for the sunset right on the beach - they play always a song called "when the sun goes down in Capri" - it has a great vibe watching the sunset with all the people and the music in the background.
Good news for people who don't like to walk, they got an own Mercedes VIP shuttle.  How decadent it can be ?! just walk those 500 meters... !

If you want to stay in your apartment in Sylt, don't worry - they have the best sorted supermarket I ever have seen on an island. It is called "Feinkost Meyer" in Wenningstedt (you see that Im in love with this place!). You get everything you need to treat yourself well !!!

Guys, I hope I summarized everything together for you - Im sure there are more places to discover on this island but this were the hot spots I could find out my first time!

As always on the end, please find my links for your next stay in Sylt ! Enjoy!
If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me.

Cheers,
Melaine
