Augsburg - a MUST SEE in Bavaria !

Augsburg, christmas time, where to stay and where to go - my insights for you!

www.melaines-insights.com,

Hey guys,

A town which I would really recommend people coming to Bavaria is Augsburg.
Augsburg is around 80 km distance from Munich, about 1 hour you should calculate for driving.

I come there many times a year, the photos were taken around Christmas time, you might notice on the decoration. Augsburg is also beautiful in the summer, but for the christmas market in the winter they are really well known all over Germany.

What I love about Augsburg it has a wonderful historic old town, you can explore everything by feet. They offer many different shops and many nice restaurants within the city center.

Where to stay?

Augsburg, Steigenberger Hotel Drei Mohren.

Casanova, Mozart, Napoleon, King Ludwig (many more names I could drop in... just mentioned a few) and me prefer staying at the wonderful Steigenberger Hotel Drei Mohren.
Yes you heard right, they were all guests as the stunning history from this hotel is going back over 500 years, it is one of the most traditional hotels in Germany.
The hotel is central located at the Maximilianstreet, that means its so central you can explore Augsburg just by feet.

How is the style of the hotel?

I like modern, stylish Hotels. I think this hotel melts the huge history of it and the modern design perfectly from the rooms to the restaurants everything is really cosmopolitan the bar 3M made me feel being back in big apple (but being in a smaller apple called "Augsburg").

If your into art you will love this hotel, speaking about historical art they offer a huge art collection well integrated in the hotel and rooms - one exhibit in our suite was dating an artist from 1640-1719. Normally you would find something like this only with "don't touch" in a museum.

What about the rooms?

They offer 131 air-conditioned rooms. All in modern elegant style. We stayed (as we had something to celebrate) at the Paganini suite (pure luxury, two bath rooms, 83qm!!). I loved the space and the modern interior. From every window in this suite you can have a look at Augsburg, which is great. Your literally in the city, while being in your room.

Speaking about modern, what I really loved that they offer you an iPad which you can use for information or even making reservations at the restaurants in the hotel.

Again I totally fall in love with the interior:

Restaurants and Bars?

If your tired from all the walking and sight seeing you can have a cocktail (or two) at the bar 3M, where you can rest your feet while spotting throwout the big glass windows the business of the street of Augsburg. Last time I spotted the Eintracht Frankfurt football team checking in the hotel by the way.

They offer also two different restaurants, last time I tried the "Maximilians" and it was just delicious, they have a huge range of wines which you should check out while being there. The service is really friendly and they also put some recommendations on you, if you like to have some assistance. What I really liked about Maximilians is that they are having front cooking, that means you see how they prepare your meal.

The other restaurant is called "Sartory" based on french cuisine, its a own gourmet restaurant with exclusive 24 seats, for all the love birds around they offer there a menue and candle light dinner.

What to see and what to do in Augsburg?

If you are coming around Christmas time, make sure you go for a long walk threw the famous Christmas market. It is just amazing. I would recommend you to come underneath the week as the weekend is always busy. Or come right in the morning when the market is just starting.

You can also go shopping, Augsburg has a lot of great unique shops waiting for you to explore.

A thing you really shouldn't miss is the food market in Augsburg, you can go there for people watching, buying fresh food or go for lunch or a glass of bubbly or something to eat. They offer also some really nice small restaurants there. I think this is my absolute favorite spot in Augsburg, I could spend ages there!!!!

Paradise on earth - Mauritius ! My insights !

Bye Bye winter- pack your bags and off to summer paradise !!!

I found paradise @ Belle Mare, Long Beach Golf Resort & Spa - Mauritius.

Hey guys,

as in Europe the winter is officially there and if you have the luxury of having some days left of your annual leave, you should have an eye on Mauritius.

In this time of the year the best season for Mauritius has just started.
As Mauritius is an island the coasts are having different weather conditions (wind etc.). So speaking about the best season this insight is only from my experience I had staying at the Belle Mare, means Eastern side, of the island.

www.melaines-insights.com

Where to stay?

Long Beach Golf Resort & Spa / Mauritius.

This Resort has the best service we ever experience, see the picture below (one of many nice experiences we made while being a guest at this exclusive Resort). Have you ever seen something like this?

www.melaines-insights.com

How long?

The perfect time for relax and checking out island should be around 12 - 15 days (of course if you can afford it - stay more days, month, years!! lifetime!?).

How is the style of the resort?

Arriving at the resort (we were greeted by a gong, when coming in the lobby) you could see that this hotel is just a modern design architect jewel. The resort faces an extensive seafront along the famous Belle Mare beach.

www.melaines-insights.com

What room to book?

The hotel has around 255 rooms (all facing the sea!!!!), the rooms are all well integrated among the nature and the beach. You don't feel this number of persons along the resort, as it is NEVER busy at the beach.

We booked a room on the first floor, which I would also recommend to you, because its just an amazing view when your out on the balcony facing the sea.

www.melaines-insights.com

What to do in the Resort?

www.melaines-insights.com

RELAX !!! Enjoy the beautiful beach and the pool area to the fullest, go snorkeling and explore the ocean.

www.melaines-insights.com

You can check out the fitness, get your kids entertained to have some time on your own (the kids club is located away from the main areas / beach / rooms - it doesn't disturb anybody).
If your into Golf this is your Resort, play at the most unique and wonderful 18-hole golf course!

The shores bar (wonderful view!) where all the restaurants are around offers entertainment on the evening, which is live music or some acts. This is also so well integrated that you don't have any disturb and if your not into entertainment you can just go back to your room and enjoy a drink or two private on your balcony.

Hows the food and the drinks?

www.melaines-insights.com

Speaking about the restaurants. This is absolutely amazing!
They offer 5 different restaurants. At first I was a bit skeptical, because I just love food and to cook. What they offered in this resort, I have never experienced before.
Its just a perfect offer for every taste.

When it should be very romantic, I can recommend you to book a table on the beach (YES! beach restaurant) where you can enjoy your dinner with candle light. You can also go there for lunch. It offers fresh sea food and fantastic steaks.

www.melaines-insights.com

www.melaines-insights.com

You can go for Japanese food if you like to, really extraordinary design and great taste.

www.melaines-insights.com

If you more into Chinese, this is the best restaurant I ever eaten Chinese. My favorite spot for dinner and lunch!

www.melaines-insights.com

www.melaines-insights.com

They also offer an Italian restaurant, which serves authentic fresh Italian food, which is nice to have from time to time.

www.melaines-insights.com

You can also order sandwiches and snacks directly on the beach/pool area, what can I say more just check the pics - its unbelievable good.

www.melaines-insights.com

They have a great sorted wine card and the cocktails are also absolutely fabulous.
Just look what they offered at the welcome management cocktail night for new arrivals.

www.melaines-insights.com

What to do in Mauritius?

We booked a private guide, which showed us the beautiful island. You should calculate about 1 day for this trip. Its really interesting because you get many informations and see some really great spots at the island. Mauritius is also well known for diamonds, the resort also offers a high class store for shopping.

5 min tea that fights flu and colds the "natural" way, easy and effective - diy !

Fight the nasty flu bug (and others) with this homemade tea, ready in 5 min!

www.melaines-insights.com

Hey guys,

its flu and cold season, so make sure you boost your immun system to stay healthy and energetic.

The easiest way for me is to make my "special" tea, which I discovered some years ago.

One thing that is important, don't wait to long to make this tea - right in the beginning when you feel the first symptoms of a flu/cold make sure you take 5 minutes to treat yourself with this tea.

When I feel sick I normally make this tea 3 times a day, before or while having breakfast / lunch / dinner.

I avoid alcohol, fast food and sadly also my weekly sports routine during this time, as the immun system needs to recover.

What you need is as simple as the recipe itself:

- handful of ginger

- 1 tea spoon of honey
- juice of one lemon
- hot water

www.melaines-insights.com

1. squeeze out a bio lemon (1), add this fresh lemon juice to

    the cup.
2. peel and chop the ginger in a handful portion. Make sure
you use a good kitchen knife, to get rid of the though skin
of the ginger, add this juice to the cup. I don't eat the
chopped ginger, its only in the tea to give his healthy boost
   into the hot water.
3. add the hot water in the cup.
4. add one tea spoon of honey in the hot cup.
5. mix everything with a tea spoon and enjoy the delicious
outcome of tea you just made.

Thats it, enjoy and stay healthy !

Cheers,

Melanie

PASTA / 15 minutes / Ginger/Parmesan/Tomatoes/Mint

PASTA / quick, fresh, healthy and yummy!

Recipe of good fresh Pasta in 15 minutes, Im sure you never have eaten before !

www.melaines-insights.com

Ciao Tutti,

Hey guys - no I don't switch into Italian now.
Im not even sure if this recipe is from origin Italian, it was a recipe a neighbor (non Italian, pretty German) gave me some time ago and I really kept it everywhere with me because it is so simple, healthy and EASY to make.

So no excuses, you better take the risk or lose the chance! Lets go !

This recipe has not many ingredients, so the ingredients you shop should be a high quality standard to make the pasta sauce as good as you wish the taste to be.
Of course you can also make fresh pasta, but when it has to be a fast then I would recommend you to buy some Pasta (Linguine) from your favorite brand.

Ingredients for 2 persones:

- One portion of ginger, should be around the size of your thumb.
- Olive Oil (no cheap one, please!).
- Pasta (Linguine) 250g.
- Cherry Tomatoes (500g cherry tomatoes).
- 1 teaspoon freshly grounded pepper.
- 1 teaspoon of salt.
- A cup of Mint, if you don't need all of the Mint keep some for later for decorating your
   pasta.
- 50 g freshly grated Parmesan (depends on how much you like) for the sauce, keep some
  grated Parmesan also for serving.

Preperation:

  1. Cook pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water, stirring occasionally, until al dente; drain and transfer to a large bowl.
  1. Meanwhile, heat oil in a wide heavy saucepan over medium-high. Add ginger (thinly sliced), then tomatoes (quartered), pepper and salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until tomatoes burst and release their juices to form a sauce, 6–8 minutes. Add then the grated parmesan underneath and keep stirring it all together. When the parmesan is melting together with the tomato ginger sauce you can add the thinly sliced mint and mix everything together.
  1. Toss pasta with tomato ginger mint parmesan sauce. Top with grated Parmesan, some fresh mint and some freshly grounded pepper.
Enjoy your dinner !!!

Cheers Melaine,
